Four(!!!) Gigs

Victoria’s Debut

I was referred by a friend to take photos of an 18th birthday celebration. In Philippine culture, this celebration is called a Debut (reminiscent of a Quinceanera). I had never met this girl, Victoria, or her family before, so going into the event I was a bit nervous and wasn’t entirely sure of what to expect. By the night’s end, it had turned into my most fun gig to date. Everyone was there to have a good time and party. Everywhere you looked there was smiling and laughing. It didn’t hurt that Victoria was extremely comfortable in front of the camera, which meant I didn’t have to work as hard. But overall, this event was the reason why I have kept up with photography. I hope to be invited to more events like it because they’re just so much fun.

Vishesh’s Family Session

Not sure what I was originally getting into, my good friend, Vishesh, asked me to take photos for a few of his family members. After nearly driving to the wrong location and being late, I arrived and found that I was photographing his family before they headed to a wedding reception. It was a quick session (less than an hour), but it gave me time to practice with my new lighting gear in broad daylight. The photos would’ve looked completely different and more flat had I not used my new gear.

Alyssa’s Maternity Photos

My girlfriend’s sister, Alyssa, and husband, Mike, recently gave birth to healthy and adorable baby boy. A couple weeks ago they had me take some maternity photos. We didn’t do the best planning in terms of timing and location, but we did our best with the resources we had. Everyone is excited with the new baby here, and I can’t wait to do my share of baby-sitting!

Pratika’s High School Graduation

Pratika was another stranger to me before I had arrived to photograph her graduation. Her mom had given me a call because she was aware of my work through her friends. This was my fifth time shooting at this particular venue, so i knew what I was getting into. Tall, non-white ceilings made for difficult lighting conditions, but with my new lighting gear, I think the photos turned out well.
