Shenandoah | Blue Ridge Parkway | Great Smoky Mountains - October 2020

Sunrise at Luftee Overlook. We nearly convinced ourselves to sleep-in this morning, but glad we decided otherwise.

Milky Way shot taken in the Clingmans Dome parking lot. Probably my best star photo to date and I’m eager to shoot more. Learned about the technique of stacking images from Jeff. This picture is ~8 images stacked on top of each other.

Sky photo taken at Shenandoah National Park.

Long exposure shot at Dark Hollow Falls in Shenandoah Nat’l Park. Most tourists were to the right of the waterfall. Reed and I were able to get across to the left side so no people were in the way of our shots.

Reed’s signature jumping pose.

Waterfall near a random pullout parking area on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turned out to be one of my favorite pictures from the trip.

Linn Cove Viaduct - Fun fact: Reed and I met the designer’s son while taking pictures of the bridge. Pretty amazing piece of design, engineering, and architecture.

Linn Cove Viaduct - While most people were viewing the bridge from alongside the road, Reed and I were able to find a secret passageway to a big rock that offered better views of the entire bridge.

Overview of a road from Newfound gap. Shot at a focal length of 200mm.

Another view from Newfound Gap.

I believe this was shot during sunset at the Clingmans Dome parking lot.

Just one of the many spectacular views along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Blue Ridge Parkway during the Fall is an absolute must. We downplayed the length of the drive, but it was easily worth it.

Reed cheesin’ for the camera.

A collection of sunrises and sunsets from the trip.

Saw this cute family sitting atop their van enjoying their breakfast on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Seeing this message on the side of their van put on a smile on my face. We could all be reminded of this, especially during the time of an election.
